MediYoga (Kundalini-derived) for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation: RCT DESIGN: RCT; MediYoga (n=~29) vs. relaxation music (n=~29) vs. standard treatment control (n=~29); 88 patients total. POPULATION: Patients with early/new diagnosis of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (PAF), on medical treatment ≥3 months. DURATION: 12 weeks; 1 hour/week group sessions at hospital + CD for home practice. YOGA TYPE: MediYoga (http://mediyoga.com) — "a therapeutic form of yoga evolved from Kundalini yoga. It is a calm, meditative yoga based on deep breathing." DESIGNED FOR: People with cardiac diseases; stretches chest muscles to facilitate deep breathing and relax body. ADAPTATIONS: Participants can sit on chair if needed. SESSION STRUCTURE: • Deep breathing: 5-10 minutes • Three movements: Back Flex, Back Roll, Sat Kriya • Two breathing techniques incorporated with movements • Meditation: 10 minutes OUTCOMES: QoL, hemodynamic parameters (blood pressure, heart rate) measured at baseline and 12 weeks.
