KY Protocol Components

Mindfulness Practices (Including KY) for Borderline Personality Disorder DESIGN: Mixed methods — 6-month mindfulness intervention + qualitative study. POPULATION: 50 patients with BPD (started 55, 50 completed). DURATION: 6 months of mindfulness practices with medications. PRACTICES USED: • Kundalini Yoga (64% effectiveness reported) • Sudarshan Kriya (58% effectiveness reported) • Other mindful exercises OUTCOMES: BPD symptom checklist (administered pre and post by trained professionals). MOST IMPROVED SYMPTOMS: Affective instability, inappropriate anger, feeling of emptiness. NOTE: This is NOT purely a KY study. It combines KY with Sudarshan Kriya and other mindfulness practices. The KY was most effective practice (64%) but not used in isolation. Published in Int J Indian Psychol. Author appeals to include mindfulness training in social work education.
